Since q8hashtagat received its official licence from the Ministry of Information under number 194/2017, we have worked toward a single goal: to give the Kuwaiti reader news that is accurate, fast and independent. Today we present a new chapter in that project.
Why rebuild?
Reading habits have changed. Readers no longer wait for the morning front page; they follow the news on a phone screen at any hour. That shift required us to rebuild our platform from the ground up: faster to load, clearer to read, and closer to the reader wherever they are.
The new site opens in a fraction of a second, can be installed on a phone like an app, and publishes in Arabic and English together — because Kuwait is a country that reads in more than one language.
What we promise
First, accuracy before speed. We will not publish what we have not verified. When we get something wrong, we will correct it openly. Trust is built slowly and lost quickly, and we know it.
Second, transparency about sources. Any report we carry from another outlet will name that source and link to it. Professionalism begins with acknowledging the work of others.
Third, people before machines. We use artificial intelligence for translation, summarising and presentation — but we hold one rule without exception: not a single line is published without human review and editorial approval. These tools assist the editor; they do not replace them.
Fourth, independence. Our judgement remains our own, and our editorial decisions are not for sale.
